Guidelines for installing parquet on anhydrite
Discover essential guidelines for installing parquet on anhydrite. Follow these tips for a successful installation.
- Anhydrite is a flowing screed, based on gypsum. It is a product that is increasingly used because of its various interesting properties. The advantages of an anhydrite over a cementitious screed are:
- Very flat finish;
- Large number of m² per day;
- Labor-friendly working conditions;
- Binder for RO anhydrite is an industrial residue, recycled product and thus environmentally friendly;
- Strong and stable;
- Self-levelling;
- Fast binding, walkable after 24 to 48h.
- Because of the moisture sensitivity of anhydrite, an exact determination of the moisture content should always be made with the CCM Carbuurmeter. The maximum moisture content for parquet installation on anhydrite is 0.5%. If the moisture content is too high, a rotting process may occur after installation, which may cause the primer or adhesive bond to loosen.
- Because anhydrite is a gypsum product, we must treat it differently than a cement-bound screed. After curing, a thin layer of calcium sulfite forms on the surface. This layer is detrimental to adhesive bonding and thus must be sanded away. A coarse sanding pad (P16) on the Woodboy or a pad with titanium or diamond grit are best for this.
- The sanding dust of anhydrite is very fine and can be detrimental to good adhesive contact. After sanding one should therefore always vacuum very thoroughly.
- For the same reason, it is recommended to place a pretreatment with Devo Primer Express PU or Devo Primer PA400 ½ diluted with Devo Diluente D40. This will fix the dust and improve the glue adhesion.
- The gluing can preferably be done Devo Glue PU 500 2C, Devo Glue MSP 140 1C or Devo Glue MSP 250 1C.
Note
- As in any home where there is a parquet floor, keeping the relative humidity (RLV) stable between 40 and 70% is very important to prevent damage.
