The maximum moisture content in a screed floor should basically be 2%. Moisture content should be determined using a CCM Carburemeter. For evaluation measurements or global measurements, an electronic moisture meter such as the Protimeter Aquant can also be used. However, it is always necessary to perform at least 2 to 3 measurements with the CCM Carburemeter for a final determination. When assessing the moisture content, take into account the drying time of the screed floor, which generally involves 1 week of drying for every 1 cm of screed thickness. The use of heating and building dryers can affect the drying process.
To check the flatness of a screed floor, use a ruler at least 2 meters long. The tolerance for flatness is 2 to 4 mm over a distance of 2 meters, depending on the type of parquet you want to install.
When checking the structure of the screed floor, watch for cracks, crazing and loose parts. Cracks and cracks, depending on their cause, can be repaired or filled with suitable products. Loose parts should be removed and filled with a mixture of Devo Primer PA400, Devo Primer Express PU or Devo Primer HE in combination with fine, dry sand.
The required level of firmness, also called surface cohesion, for a screed floor is at least 0.5 N/mm². Various tests and measurement methods exist to determine whether the screed floor meets the surface cohesion requirements. A simple test is to scratch into the surface with a scratch pen and assess the reaction of the screed floor. If the screed is not sufficiently compact or there is "silting", a pretreatment with, for example, Devo Primer PA400 is required to improve the tensile strength and adhesion of the adhesive.
Before applying Devo Primer Express PU, always perform a moisture measurement with appropriate devices. The maximum allowable moisture content of cement screeds is 6% (measured with a carburetor meter), 3% for cement screeds with underfloor heating, and 0.5% for anhydrite (also with underfloor heating). The substrate must be clean, dry, grease-free and free of loose particles. Any cracks and cracks should be repaired in advance with a paste of Devo Primer Express PU or another Devo Primer mixed with fine dry sand.
Under optimal conditions, one can begin bonding parquet after 40 to 60 minutes after applying Devo Primer Express PU when applying one coat. For optimum adhesion when gluing, this should be done within 24 hours. With two layers of parquet, this can take place after sufficient drying, depending on environmental factors.
Never use water! There is a high risk that due to uneven water distribution the pores will also open unevenly. Result: streaking in the finishing coat due to mopping.
After sanding, vacuum the floor thoroughly only with the brush floor tool.
The floor is walkable with soft footwear after 8 to 12 hours, depending on the product used, but is not fully cured until 7 to 10 days. One can place furniture during this period, but not move it!
The floor is still too sensitive to scratches and moisture during the curing period. It is also not recommended to cover the floor airtight during the curing period.
